Got invited to an interesting event today where Emanate representation @djlethalskillz presented. Its a very interesting project as its like Spotify however its powered by the EOS blockchain.
In DJ Lethal Skillz explaination, there is a smart contract which rewards the author of the music every six seconds of play time. So as you stream the music, the author / singer / songwriter gets paid every 6 seconds. Unlike Spotify .. where the artist gets paid at the end of the song.
From the dashboard, you are able to see how much this song has actually got paid to the artist
You can see that DJ Lethal Skillz already got paid a total of $4.81 for the song Ocean Ride. This would just continue to accumulate and the value of that is being paid in EMX token which is like the Stable coins of Emanate.
You are also able to stake Emanate by buying EMT tokens thru the EOS markets like NewDex . What you get a lil bonus from a growth pool.
So this is one of the more interesting projects on the blockchain which I’ve seen and it has great potential. When asked how is Copywrite protected for musicians, it seems that every genre has its own curators and when new artists signs up, they are manually checked and verified before being able to upload their music.
DJ Lethalskillz is one of the curators for HipHop and he would be one of the many curators out there.
Do check out this site, as I do think its pretty cool … give back artists what they deserved and not be cheated and scammed by production houses.
It seems like everywhere I go in Vietnam, the food is just amazing and really really healthy. All dishes comes with a lot of greens.
This was fish noodles soup. The soup was just really tasty and you won’t see any oil in it. Unlike some of the place you eat in Malaysia.
And what’s great… It only cost like 35k VND.. Which is about $1.5 for a whole meal. That includes a bowl of yummy noodle fish soup and a side dish of vegetables and Vietnamese tea.
Great food is almost everywhere including the shopping malls.
This famous dish called Bun Cha.. Its sticky noodles with BBQ Pork and sauce.. Also with loads of vegetables cost me about $3.5 and that was for dinner.
Apparently you can get fresh vegetables at the markets everyday and there is street smack in the middle of the city just selling it. So that’s why every other dish you get in Vietnam is just filled with greens.
For me, after a few days in Vietnam, you’ll get so used to it that once you go back to Malaysia, you feel like something in your meal is missing. As the vegetables you get don’t seem as fresh as what you get there.
So if you want to eat healthy and cant seem to do it consistently enough.. Move to Vietnam 😂😂😂
Steemfest is just around the corner and for me, unlike previous years where loads of budgeting and planning was needed to get to Steemfest as it was really far away from the city of Kuala Lumpur, this year …. I’m really relaxed as going to Bangkok is only a 2hour 20 minutes flight.
At least this year I do not need to fly and have stop overs and rush for interconnecting flights …. WHAT A RELIEF !!!! For those coming from far and away ….. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND what you will be going thru. But I’m sure it would be an amazing journey for most people.
Flying in from Asia, one of the most popular websites which is used to get the best flights would be this site. www.skyscanner.com
Previous years … it cost me about 10 times more just flight alone compared to this year where is only about RM400 (about USD95) average in flights. This would be a great opportunity for Steemians in the region to come over to Steemfest and experience it for the first time ever in Asia !
And not only the flights however the accommodation can range from budget to really high end, I normally use Booking.com as my prefered choice of selecting a hotel or quickly browse thru AirBnB.
So to sum it up … my road to steemfest this year is a much shorter one, however, the challenges of settling affairs at home ( real-life stuff ) needs to be settled before I can go off on a trip which takes about 5 days.
Why should You attend?
To meet all the active crazy Steemians of course
I’m really looking forward in seeing and meeting Steemians from all walks of life.
To collect ALL these SWAGS
There is nothing better then collecting all the swags been given out during Steemfest. Watch out for the T-Shirts … thats something to keep for life ! I wear it at every event that I go for the whole year, its an easy conversation starter.
To get involved in growing this blockchain
I must say that after heading over to Steemfest 2 and Steemfest 3, you do tend to get involved more in projects as you can see how passionate these people are about the Steem Blockchain. You will want to have a great time for sure and you WILL want to get more involved in projects and be a part of growing it.
I’m excited to meet EVERYONE ! I’m sure @arcange has something up his sleeves again this year to get everyone to engage with one another thru the Steemfest app. I wonder wonder wonder what its going to be this year.
SO see you all at Steemfest and if you are still undecided to go … I’m going to say “This is an event you will NOT regret going to !“. I shall see you at STEEMFEST 4 !
By the way … this post is in response to this week daily task by @anomadsoul . Do join in a write you post before tomorrow’s SUNDAY (6th Oct ) dateline.
Its been a while since I last celebrated my mum’s birthday together with her. So this year, I decided that I must make the efforts to gravel back home and spend a little bit more time with her and celebrate her 73rd Birthday.
My mum was a school teacher in her earlier days where she had taught up to 3 generations of students in the small town of Labuan ( a tiny island just off the coast of Borneo ). Sometimes when I bring her for walks around the town, we get people still calling her Cikgu.
My mum has always been my inspiration to try and help others to succeed and one of the most patient person I know. I guess that’s one of the traits you pick up being a teacher of a primary school for about 30 years.
We only have one mother and we would always love them as they have sacrificed so much for us. I’m thankful that I am still able to see her even though her health is deteriorating …. she always has an amazing smile for me when I get home which is what I really look forward to.
Happy 73rd Birthday Mum … I will always love you !
One of the things I do enjoy a lot is travelling be it internationally or just dometic travels. The trip and route may seem the same however the experience is always different for me.
Started my day by train … however before boarding the train I remembered I left my phone in the car !!! omg … lucky my dear sweet wife @ireenchew who drove me to the train station early in the morning was not too far off and drop me my handphone after i kindly asked someone for help to borrow me their handphone for a quick call.
Off to Labuan … a small little duty free island off the coast of Borneo where life is simple and where cars are cheap ! From there … off to Borneo mainland thru the sea.
Took a speedboat as its the best way to travel fast and cheap. These boats are also known as the flying coffins … as its small and don’t expect much comfort .. it just gets you from point A to point B within 25 mins and costs about RM8.50 ( USD 2 )
From there … I got a lift to @danieldoughty ‘s place … which is was my final destination and after a chat .. off we went to see some night markets happening in the city of Kota Kinabalu .
Yeap … we walk .. and it was really crowded.
If I’m not mistaken there was a celebration of the Mid Autumn festival and this weekend was the height of the celebrations. I’ve got some videos which I would share later.
Now … as I’m writing this post … I’m dead tired as I’ve been travelling since 5am till about 10pm … time for some zzzz …
So these guys are in Kuala Lumpur and you can meet up with them if you are around town. It would be great to meet up with them to understand more, as I do have some questions on this project which I’m really interested to understand it better.
The haze in Kuala Lumpur is really bad .. so lucky thing I was heading out to Vietnam for a few days and at least get to breathe some fresh air while getting some things done there.
So whats happening to cryptos this fine Monday ??? Looks like Bitcoin did another dip … and is now sitting at about $10,350, however based on my quick look at the charts .. we may see another dip before moving towards 10,550 – 10,880
Even the market sentiments seems to be siding the shorts where there is a 82 million dollars in the difference in superiority as of the time of this writing. This may however flip in my estimates within 48 hours .. but I’ve been wrong many times before.
STEEM however ….. it seems to be holding on strong with low resistance of 0.00001540 BTC . Its seems like a good indication to buy around that price as its been tested before at that level and held strong.
These are all just my opinions and not financial advice. If you are trading .. do it at your own risk.
Anyways .. back to my short trip and Vietnam keeps me hunting for food !!! So far managed to find a few new ones like this Crab Noodles Soup !
Or this really yummy mixed salad ..
Have a great week ahead guys !! And keep on steeming !
It won’t be long now that a lot of us would be making that trip to Bangkok to attend STEEMFEST 4 , the most anticipated STEEM Meetup event of the year.
As mentioned in @anomadsoul ‘s post-task this week, what would I be expecting when going to visit our neighboring country to visit and to meet amazing new friends. What would I be planning to do apart from attending SteemFest?
Even though Malaysia and Thailand is just sitting next to each other, there is a big difference in culture and also language. So , heading over to Bangkok is really fun … been there a few times for holiday so there are just a few key places which I would really like to go again this time around.
Chatuchak Market !
Now this place is just a sea of stuff to get, and buy and most of the time you end up buying stuff you don’t really need. Each time anyone heads over to Bangkok, you can never get enough of Chatuchak Market. There is just so much stuff you can get here.
Did you know that a large number of small boutique hotels in Malaysia buys their stuff from these markets? From customized soaps, candles and other decorative stuff is bought from here. So this is one place which I will surely visit.
Get an authentic Thai Massage
If you’ve not had a really good Thai massage, you don’t know what you would be missing. The experience of Thai massage makes you feel just amazing as the technique they use is so different from those normal massages. Towards the end of it, you get stretched, pulled, and all you can hear is your body releasing all its stiffness making you feel refreshed.
Get a taste of some local food
Being a typical Malaysian, we love food and Thailand shares almost the same thing. And good food you get at the restaurant with nice ambiance and waiters waiting to serve you … however GREAT Food is what you will get on the streets.
This would surely be something which I would be hunting from the day I reach Thailand and if you like to find these local delicacies, Thailand is surely the best place to find it.
Apart from those, I don’t think I would have much time to roam around freely in Thailand however I would surely be looking forward in meeting all of you would be heading over to SteemFest !
Lets meetup and have an amazing time like every other year !
To all Malaysians out there ! Happy 62nd Independence Day wherever you are. We celebrate decades of peace and harmony in out multicultural nation.
I remember asking my grandfather once on how was it like during the Independence day on 31st Aug 1957 , his eyes just lit up with brightness and told me something which I would never forget … “we build our nation starting today”
We take time to reflect what our forefathers has suffered to gain our independence for the country and sometimes, I do believe that many have forgotten that.
SELEMAT HARI MERDEKA !
May we always remember the importance of gaining independence and celebrate it as one nation !
With STEEM just completing its HardFork , we are now sitting at version 0.22 of the STEEM blockchain. With this update there was a significant change in the rewards and in this post I would like to address how you can maximize your curation rewards.
Curation Rewards ?
Curation rewards are rewards you receive when you vote on a post. To simplify this explanation, when you vote on a post and your vote commands a $0.50 vote value. The author will get 50% of the upvoted value and ideally, you would receive about $0.25 back in curation rewards.
This is subject to change as there are other factors which would increase or decrease your curation rewards. For example, if you vote before 5 minutes just as the post is created, you may not get the curation rewards as thats how it’s designed. If you vote after the 5 mins point and there are others who voted after you have placed your votes, you may receive higher curation rewards.
The earlier you vote, the better chance of getting a higher curation reward.
Here is a link to understand curation rewards better
This is my recommendation on maximizing your curation rewards. An effective method which makes sure you do not waste your potential rewards by keeping it idle.
Login to SteemAuto.com using your steem account and once you are in click on CURATION TRAILS. You will then see a list of curation trails which you can follow
IMPORTANT ! NOTE
There are a few settings which you MUST do else it would run your voting power dry extremely fast. In the curation settings you have to enable it and make sure you put in the % weight. Default is at 50% , my recommendations are about 50% or lower and scale voting weight. You leave the rest as its default.
What happens here is that whenever the account votes, it would then trigger your account to vote as well. If you have selected scale voting weight it would vote based on the %.
For example if @curie votes at 100% , your account would vote at 50% … and if @curie votes at 50% your account will then vote at 25%
The other setting you must do is head over to DASHBOARD under settings. Edit the Limit on Mana and set it to around 85% which is my recommendation.
This setting is crucial as you do not want to overuse your vote and leave you nothing to manually vote when you have the time.
Once you have set this up, you will then see your account automatically voting up Steemians thru curation of others.
I do recommend that you follow @curie ‘s trail as its a guild which curates and votes on deserving authors with high quality posts.
Vote Selling may still by a hype at this point of time, however as time goes by, I would guess that there would be less people using this vote-selling as like bid bots , to reach ROI for someone who wants to buy a vote may costs them a lot more. However selling your votes is surely another way you can maximize on your curation as you as the seller gets both curation rewards and also payment for your votes.
I shall not go too much into the details as I’ve done a more comprehensive post on this previously. Here is the link
